The truth is that none of you are ugly you’ve just let straight men make you believe your are

Weird how people in the notes have turned this into some sort of individual experience pissing contest when I am saying that structurally straight, particularly white men, own the media and make up, and clothing companies which inform our cultural understanding of beauty and influence the way people see, interact, treat us, and the way we see ourselves as more or less beautiful. I’m not sure why men in the notes are saying anything at all as if men weren’t absolutely given the space to be ugly whereas women are not.

In hindsight, every time one or both of my parents responded with “Well you’ve just got an answer for everything, don’t you?” they were probably really saying “Fuck you for being correct when I want to be in control of you.”
