Claro, Madman Bovary

Who would u say r ur favorite gay poets of color are?

ilovemybrowngirl:

Audre Lorde (Black lesbian), June Jordan (Black bisexual woman), Hélène Cixous (Jewish Algerian wlw – I don’t know what she specifically identified as), Amir Khusrow (Indian Sufi mystic poet who had homoerotic themes in some of his poems – obviously “gay” wouldn’t be a term he’d have used but you get me), Rumi (Irani Sufi mystic poet who also had homoerotic themes in some of his poems), Natalie Wee (Chinese queer woman), Danez Smith (a queer, Black nonbinary person), Langston Hughes (Black gay man), Pat Parker (Black lesbian), Nancy Huang (Chinese bisexual woman), Wu Tsao (Chinese lesbian), and Fatima Asghar (South Asian wlw)

in case you haven’t heard it today, or don’t fully realise it yet: i promise you that most people in this world are kind, loving and understanding. the people around you want you to succeed, they do not want you to fail. your friends don’t hate you, they love you, and they want to see you grow and prosper.

the world is not as bad as it seems. don’t forget that.

Sounds fake but ok

good news: it’s not fake. everything i said is true. being dismissive towards good things is a damaging mindset to have. you’ll feel a lot better if you have some trust and if you’re willing to consider optimistic viewpoints.

Is this what non depressed people feel like ? Damn. You’re so lucky

i’m extremely mentally ill and extremely depressed at that. deflecting good advice that encourages you to think positively about life by claiming that the person who said it is not depressed (when i very much am) is also a very damaging mindset to have.

bushlesbian:

when you instill in society the capitalist belief that “if you work hard you will make it”, then no empathy goes to the poor because of the delusional ideology that they “choose” to remain poor. no critical thought goes into the disadvantages experienced by individuals, and many middle/upper class people brain washed by capitalism even believe shelter, water and food shouldn’t be accessible and free. they’re so defensive of capitalism that they refuse to consider how it causes things that keep the poor poor, like drug addiction. the poor have to exist for the rich to exist under capitalism. remember that.

lifeinpoetry:

“Not the weight of the body but the fact of the body. Not the shape of the body but the needs of the body. How inconvenient to be made of desire. Even now, want rises up in me like a hot oil. I want so much that it scares me. I don’t know what I’m made of; I wish I did. That I could gut myself like a fish or a fruit.”
