Western Europe’s weird “we all learned our lesson after 1945 and now we’re all nice progressives who don’t do icky things like racism and sexism anymore 😇” superiority complex is straight up one of the biggest enablers of the rise of the militant far right here

Also the rightwing directly exploits this complex to recruit people who don’t consider themselves nationalist, or even racist. How many times do you see shit like “Immigrants and refugees are bad because they’re misogynist, they’re antisemitic, they’re homophobic!! And we’re not, because we’re too nice for those things, but the only way to protect our progressiveness is to keep them out so they don’t bring all that bad stuff back!!” or “We give these people all this equality and opportunities and they’re still fucked up and poor! What the fuck is wrong with those people!?”

all this talk about drake and millie bobby brown and young girls in tv/movies/music being groomed by much older men just reminds me of that fucking study that was done showing that the kind of men that women found attractive aged with them (for example a woman in her 40s most commonly finds men in the same age range attractive), but contrastingly, the women that men find attractive will stay in the 18-25 range for pretty much their entire lives and it.. really makes me sick to my stomach, like if these same men had been given the option to go lower, would they have?

Somebody who claims you aren’t “forcing anyone to do anything” as long as you aren’t holding a gun to their head, ie prison labour and wage slavery, is not interested in a good faith argument. They aren’t THAT dumb, they know what ‘coercion’ means, they’re being extra litteral/dense on purpose.

I’m reposting this from my facebook because I wanna post it here too

I recently moved out of the town I’ve been living in for the last three years, which is something I am very happy about. There are a lot of issues with the people in that area in which I would like to discuss. I’ve been sexually assaulted twice in there, and I’ve been sexually harassed by a lot of men around the area too, and I and have had many other traumatizing encounters with men there alongside that. None of these men were gun-toting openly woman hating republicans. They’ve all been men who hold themselves as liberal or leftist, and many times they identify as feminists too. I think one thing that people refuse to acknowledge is that your friends who are butch, your friends who are trans, and your friends who are women of color experience the white men you bring around in an entirely different perspective than you do. Everyone knows that men secretly mistreat the women they see as “lesser” but nobody seems to be able to recognize, or is willing to try to recognize when a man within your own circle is the perpetrator of that behavior. There is just a general attitude of disbelieving women who have lenses that others don’t experience. Both men who have sexually assaulted me have been men who are involved with my town’s LGBT communities, and for all I know, they still are. These men talk and interact with people within the same social circles as me. I’ve been roofied three times there, two of those times being at the town’s monthly gay dance. A man who stalked me and tried to threaten me so I would sleep with him used to be president of my school’s Queer Student Union. The sexual assault problem is a problem with male violence. The reason I’m writing is this because everyone in my facebook newsfeed is blaming these behaviors on republicans over and over and over when really it is a problem with men regardless of their political alignment. I think people really need to start questioning the men they interact with.
