💕 Your two top fave fictional characters. god this is so hard omg i’d say Emma Bovary of COURSE and Clarissa Dalloway if we’re talking about like contemporary novels focusing on character psychology… And if i can cheat id say Cyrano de Bergerac too because god, this character is a butch icon lmao And of course every single woman or female figure from greek mythology bc #medusa avenging squad, particularly Iphis and Cassandra but like…. more recently ive discovered Pains of Youth by Ferdinand Brückner and honestly what a mood. especially Désirée. i love her. and Irène is amazing too!! 

🎁 Best gift you ever received and why: ohhhh i’ll be forever grateful for the complete collection of Flaubert letters that my ex gave me (in la pléiade like!!!! for my non-french followers this is a super detailed and accurate and super expensive book collection that publishes only the Classics And Literary Canon). like it was for my 18th birthday and we had just started dating and i mentioned casually once that the first thing i’d do when i’d have money would be to buy those books, because i had been reading those letters non-stop (ahem special interest ahem) for years, on a scrappy academic website (big up flaubert.univ-rouen.fr lmao). and he actually……. bought them all???? like?????? i’m so so grateful for this tbh

also! one of my best friends saw i posted about Amy Levy and bought me one of her books for my 20th birthday and i love him hes the best my friends are awesome
