I mean basically in 428 BCE, during the Peloponnesian War, a group of wealthy folk from an oligarchical city on the most democratic and Athenian allied island of Lesbos tried to start and uprising and ultimately Athens Shut That Shit Down Real Fast. But we were talking about it in one of my lectures and I kept snickering like a child at “the Lesbian ships” and other such things, because I always forgot that Lesbian is in fact the title for the residents of the island of Lesbos.
