If you ever feel like you’re exhausted by your work, push yourself too hard, and can’t help it, don’t forget Pliny the Younger did the same and couldn’t stop complaining about it in his letters, and it was almost 2000 years ago

I knew there was a season I related to Pliny! Could you point me towards the right letters, I’ve only read book X…

I still haven’t finished to read him myself ! (I’ve read three books so far) Pliny often says he has too much work to end a letter – because he envies the peaceful life of his penpal or because he wants them to follow a more peaceful path. Sometimes it’s only one sentence long.

Soooo. For complete letters, see : I, 9 ; I, 23 ; II, 8 ; II, 14 ; III, 1

I would like to quote the most relevant extracts but I’m reading a french translation, so…

Thanks so much for the references! I’ll be sure to check them out – I’m afraid my Latin is indeed somewhat better than my French.

My pleasure ! (And don’t worry I won’t blame you for that ahaha)
