ok people have like said this before but i jst wanna say it too like… men who become makeup artists do makeup as an art form and a choice.  and i think makeup has the potential to be a beautiful art form.  but what people need to start realizing is that women are literally doing this shit so that they can receive basic respect and human decency from the people around them lol.  like these male makeup artists can fuck around with their brushes all damn day idc but breaking like the gender roles around makeup or whatever isn’t going to change the fact that women are EXPECTED to wear makeup, sometimes risk their personal safety not wearing makeup, that we are literally treated as subhuman for wearing our natural fucking faces in public.  and more than that, we’re not only treated with less respect by others when we don’t wear makeup, but for women who are used to wearing at least some makeup all the time (this is most women), it causes hatred within ourselves towards our own natural faces.  it causes women to think that they are “putting their faces on” when they do their makeup, that their “real face” looks the way it does when they wear makeup and that the face they were fucking born with is some like ugly mask that needs to be covered up in order to be productive.  on the extreme end this can cause dysmorphia in women and for basically all women it causes extreme self esteem issues.  so like whatever if men want to be able to be more feminine like that’s fine but stop acting like the only oppressive structure here is that men aren’t allowed to be feminine.  that stigma is based in misogyny which is ever present in makeup culture and literally hurting women every fucking day
