anyway do u guys get now why the “X legal gender marker for nonbinary people” idea is incredibly stupid
@marsixm an X marker would create a (voluntary) registry of trans people which the govt would then be able to use as, well, a registry, like the registry of muslims that the trump admin was trying to create last year. it would give politicians a powerful tool with which to persecute trans people, not to mention making it unsafe for anyone w that marker to show legal ID to any govt official for any reason. it would have the exact opposite effect as letting trans people change their gender markers to M or F, i.e. it makes passing and the safety that comes from passing impossible. a much, much better alternative is abolishing legal gender markers altogether
