Really hate how “she thinks she can change a man” is one of the main go to examples when someone wants to talk about how women are stupid bitches who invite abuse, when one of the most common narratives regarding romance/relationships is “man is saved from his troubled ways by the patient love of a Truly Good™ woman.” Women are told that if they truly love him they’ll “stand by your man/be ride or die” and eventually he’ll reward your loyalty, and women who break up with men who refuse to get their shit together are seen as selfish, ice-hearted demons who abandoned their man when he was down, and their cruelty is to blame for him continuing to spiral towards rock bottom. Women and girls are constantly sold the message that you have to put up with kissing the frog to get a loving prince, but at the same time it’s womankind’s collective failure (and of course, especially the fault of abuse victims themselves) that so many women end up with slimy guys who exploit that narrative
