the reason i’m so loathe to see health at every size & fat acceptance advocates being “entrepreneurs” (w like a brand, a coaching business lmao, expensive content, etc.) is that this is part of the process by which a truly subversive movement, which stands to most help poor women of color, is simply taken up by the power structure that oppresses those people… it’s absorbed, assimilated. it’s only accessible to ppl w money. and it’s not that i don’t want everyone to have better relationships w their bodies, but this is the classic public health dilemma where offering a good thing but not making it accessible to the people who need it most simply serves to widen health disparities. it’s actively harmful when it isn’t equitable.
fat acceptance is a radical movement, inextricable from other radical movements (anti-racist, anti-capitalist, anti-cisheteropatriarchy, disability justice, etc.). you can’t be an “entrepreneur” in a radical movement; it can’t be your for-profit business. it’s one or the other
