Clotilde Superba
I’ve read the story of Clotilde Superba and we’ve got a new role model from the VI th century guys :
– daughter of a king
– forced to live a cloistered life in Poitiers
– refused the authority of her new abbess
– fled the monastery with 40 nuns, led them through the merovingian territory
– wanted to meet the kings/queen in order to make them punish the abbess
– said fuck off to Gregory of Tours (yes, the soon to be saint)
– Sent numerous letters to her cousins/aunt so they had to notice her
– said fuck off to the church
– was excommunicated and said fuck off again
– seriously she was ok with that, the only way for her to apologize was to punish the abbess but everybody refused
– scared the hell out of Venantius Fortunatus (yes, another soon to be saint)
– came back to Poitiers, allied with bandits and some guys from the city
– tried to take over the monastery several times
– said fuck off to death
– no joke she just held the relic of the true cross that belonged to the monastery and said to the men who came to stop her “ you can’t kill me, I’m a princess” and it scared them so they did nothing
– In court, she refused to apologize because the abbess was not declared guilty and became the head of the monastery again
– She sent letters to her aunt, queen Brunhilda, in which she gossiped so much about the abbess and her possible lovers that Brunhilda had to juge them all (they were innocents and it was proved)
– said fuck off again and refused to apologize and to go back to the monastery
– Brunhilda, after countless sighs, granted her a villa in the countryside were Clotilde lived a happy and lavish life
– that’s what I call A WIN
